what is life all about? isn’t it more than a purpose, a destination, or even a path, beyond seeking meaning, god(s), discovering yourself?
i see life as a sequence of pepretual transitions, most of them unnoticeable, unanticipated, and underappreciated
is life like the sliding of a counter across the Moksha Patam board, streaming upwards and downwards as we roll out our deeds, thoughts, interactions competing to the end
or can it be more responsive, receptive, a realisation as we pause before our onward transition
reflect to your earliest memories, your most recent past and ponder over who, where you are right now. can you recognise the transitions, how subtle the changes flow through time and space
who observes?
does the observer have their own transitions?
perhaps all transitions cease
when they reach the realm of the observer
my prayer is that through all our transitions may we remain like water,
benevolent (meherbaan) and adaptable, but where need be
to set and turn solid or become light as vapour
without the loss of our essence
***
the word “meherbaan” takes me back to this mesmerizing compostion Tu Mera Dil orginally by Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Listen to Zain Zohaib carrying on the tradition and legacy of the Master

We don’t move in a straight line in transitions. The back-and-forth, zig-zag movement makes us weary of change.
