grief is indeed a luxury
no freedom to mourn
even the candle flame was still
paying its respects in silence
what does loss sound like?

I can’t imagine what loss sounds like
perhaps heart wrenching, perhaps hollow
But I do believe this is what hope sounds like

    The flame is grieving for the wax it is melting as it burns, but what about the hand that set a match to the wick? Even as that matchstick is blackened and wasted, the very same hand that is capable of kindling hope is setting alight many more fires. Alas…
