from innocent to intelligent

recently been through dangers, toils and snares
but barely felt any fears
i attribute to faith
an intelligent faith that
quietly
assures
i will be taken care of

i can only remember
most of my life
spent in pursuit of reason,
a practical life

though once upon a time
i did have faith
an innocent faith
an inherited faith
without need to understand

from the purity of innocence
through the arrogance of self-reliance
towards an evolution of intelligent faith
where questions matter
more than answers

faith is a journey of tests
test me more
go on
give me all you got

but no wait!
i am intelligent enough
to know i am not there,
not yet a malangi

take me to
an inebriated faith
a defiant faith
[where i can also test you]
until the day
my destination finds me
and i have come through,
unaffected

[one of the meanings of Malang is a person who is not aware of himself, not aware of his surroundings, not worried about worldly things]

  1. Dear Sonya,

Thank you for this creation. We are quite enjoying it, as it inspires us to reflect on faith, belief, reason, and the innocence of a child-like (not the same as childish) mind.

    All good wishes,

    robert
