one moment

one moment
absconded from time
and the days were in disarray
tomorrow was not to be expected
all we have is yesterday

seeking that moment
the present turns impotent
and time itself waited, waited
in vain

that one moment
made its presence felt
a tiny moment, seemingly superfluous
but a single moment on its own
can stop all time, all the time

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
value each moment
each moment you are together, even
each moment you are apart
for it teaches you to wait
although time behaves
differently in other universes
i guess even there, time must be
made up of moments
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

take a moment to listen to this beautiful, powerful prayer that I dedicate to the oppressed

may there be justice, freedom, peace, healing for the people and lands of Palestine, Congo, Sudan, Haiti, the Afghan refugees and everywhere there is injustice and corruption

Amen | Ameen | Om Shanti

  1. Dear Sonya,

    Thank you for this beautiful post.

    For this person, it brings to mind an appreciation of the brevity of life, somehow taking me back to the guidance of Farīduddīn Masūd Ganjshakar (Baba Farid).

    It also takes this person to how now is the time to gladden the heart of human beings, find the lost, feed the hungry, heal the broken, help the afflicted, release the suffering ones, lighten the sorrow of the sorrowful, remove the sufferings of the injured, and bring peace among all people.

    All good wishes,

    robert
